My favorite tip from the night was the one about letting everyone know not only that you're writing but also when you'll be "done," and sticking to it. I hadn't heard that one before!!--and I am very guilty of saying "five more minutes" which then turns into fifty...-five...plus ten...

I have passed on the links about how to be a writer's spouse to my husband. He actually wants to write a book on the subject. (See above about my trying my household's patience.)

Cheers, and bravo!!!
RitaRitahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03823648489427679440noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3918632150874350241.post-90606369315502226742011-10-07T07:44:44.514-07:002011-10-07T07:44:44.514-07:00Wow - fantastic resources - I can't wait to cl...Wow - fantastic resources - I can't wait to click on them all... but I actually need to write right now, so I'll come back and procrastinate later! I'm far away (in New York) but I too felt I was in the room.

I want to comment that I've tried most of these distraction-busting techniques, with mixed success, but one I haven't and which really caught my eye was having a buddy to whom you report progress. At one point, my husband and I went on a diet and used the program "Lose It" to help us. It was the only diet that ever worked for me because you had to record everything you ate (kind of like Karol's charts) and we had each other to encourage (and praise when appropriate). (Okay, we got a little obnoxious discussing our calorie count, learned not to do so among friends, but that's another story.) The point is, knowing that there is someone to whom you'll have to 'fess up if bad and feel chuffed up (English term) when good could be a real motivation.Heidi L.https://www.blogger.com/profile/12893738258321228644noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3918632150874350241.post-60665977972382676662011-10-05T09:40:51.735-07:002011-10-05T09:40:51.735-07:00A most throughout summary of the schmooze.
